The Grand Sort and Organize

A while ago I was lucky enough to be able to purchase this awesome steel cabinet, formerly used at a local fabric store to keep the Simplicity patterns all nice and tidy.  I couldn't resist having it for my sewing room.  It now holds some of my fabric collections....just some....

Here's what is inside now!

I also spent time (4 days) sorting all my scraps (just the prints, solids have their own bins)  I only have this bin of print scraps left to sort through.

Here are my printed scraps, all sorted by colour families, all in one place now.

I feel a huge relief now that my "Scrash" (scrap stash) is all organized and I am ready to start sewing up some scrap quilts.  My grand plan is to make a few scrap quilts and donate them to Quilts of Valour - Canada this year.  This is my only goal for 2015.

Hope you had time today to do something quilty!

  1. Holy Scraps! I sorted all my scraps last night, by color. I could maybe fill one of those bins. And I think I have way too much. You better get sewing girl!!

  2. You sure have some gorgeous fabrics there, Linda! And what a job to have done! I can never finish sorting my fabric scraps..I have great intentions when I start and then I just cannot finish the job. It will be fun to see what you sew up with yours now that they have order.

  7. Whoohoo! All fresh and organized and ready for the new year. That cabinet is the best ever since it has dividers for smaller rows inside the drawer. See you Thursday!

  8. What a great cabinet! Sure wish I was as organized as you are. It takes me as long to find my fabrics as it does to make the actual project. Guess this would be a good goal for me in 2015.... sort fabrics! Thanks for the inspiration!

  16. Good grief, Linda! That is a LOT of fabric! I'm even more sorry than ever that I missed the tour of your sewing area when you hosted Sew In. I bet I could have filled my pockets (and a backpack or two) and you wouldn't even have missed it!

  18. How satisfied you must be feeling! Fantastic way of storing fabrics and of course for a 'Scrapmaster' a very practical way of storing your Scrash! Happy stitching in 2015. xx
