A while ago I was lucky enough to be able to purchase this awesome steel cabinet, formerly used at a local fabric store to keep the Simplicity patterns all nice and tidy. I couldn't resist having it for my sewing room. It now holds some of my fabric collections....just some....
Here's what is inside now!
I also spent time (4 days) sorting all my scraps (just the prints, solids have their own bins) I only have this bin of print scraps left to sort through.
Here are my printed scraps, all sorted by colour families, all in one place now.
I feel a huge relief now that my "Scrash" (scrap stash) is all organized and I am ready to start sewing up some scrap quilts. My grand plan is to make a few scrap quilts and donate them to Quilts of Valour - Canada this year. This is my only goal for 2015.
Hope you had time today to do something quilty!

Holy Scraps! I sorted all my scraps last night, by color. I could maybe fill one of those bins. And I think I have way too much. You better get sewing girl!!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have some gorgeous fabrics there, Linda! And what a job to have done! I can never finish sorting my fabric scraps..I have great intentions when I start and then I just cannot finish the job. It will be fun to see what you sew up with yours now that they have order.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!! What a great sorting job you have done- bet it feels good, and you are itching to get sewing!! What a great "score" that pattern cabinet was! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI love that Simplicity cabinet.
ReplyDeleteThose scraps look beautiful all color sorted.
What a job to sort ALL those scraps but a great resource for some serious sewing now!! The pattern cabinet was a good find too! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing organization! The Simplicity cabinet works out great. You sure do have a lot of scraps! I can't wait to see what you make with them in 2015 :)
ReplyDeleteWhoohoo! All fresh and organized and ready for the new year. That cabinet is the best ever since it has dividers for smaller rows inside the drawer. See you Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cabinet! Sure wish I was as organized as you are. It takes me as long to find my fabrics as it does to make the actual project. Guess this would be a good goal for me in 2015.... sort fabrics! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized with your fabric!!!! Such a beautiful selection of fabric that you have!
ReplyDeleteI love your wonderful use of the cabinet. I will have to remember this as a great quilt hack.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous, wish I had the room you have. Great find and usage. You have given me an idea how to use a dresser That I have available though. I'll just have my husband put partitions in the drawers. Thanks

Scrash-tastic Batgirl. That is some serious stash sorting effort. Very Well Done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cabinet for storage. You did a lot of sorting. I need to purchase bins and get busy!!
ReplyDeleteLinda this is a huge accomplishment. Well done!
ReplyDeleteOMG! OMG! I still have to get the bins, never mind the sorting. Say when I get the bins, wanna come to my place and do mine? LOL!
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Linda! That is a LOT of fabric! I'm even more sorry than ever that I missed the tour of your sewing area when you hosted Sew In. I bet I could have filled my pockets (and a backpack or two) and you wouldn't even have missed it!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is some serious stash and scraps. Good luck with using some of it up this year.
ReplyDeleteHow satisfied you must be feeling! Fantastic way of storing fabrics and of course for a 'Scrapmaster' a very practical way of storing your Scrash! Happy stitching in 2015. xx
ReplyDeleteDon't know how I missed this post! Not only is your new acquisition a wonderful addition to your sewing room, but your fabric stash is dreamy!
