It's a snow-day, a stay inside day, so of course, I am in the basement sewing up a storm. lol
I am playing with scraps and Featherweights.
I have three Singer Featherweight sewing machines....one from 1948, one from 1950 and one from the year of my birth, 1952. Only the 1952 is not working at the moment. It needs a new bobbin holder. I am sewing today with the 1950.
I oiled her and put a new needle in and she is purring away and making the most perfect stitch.
I am sewing up improv 12 1/2" square blocks just for fun. No plan in mind. Just some stressfree sewing.
Hope you are enjoying some stress-free sewing today too!
Sounds wonderful, Linda! Good on you for using the 'vintage' machine - is it treadle? My mom used a treadle when I was quite young but I couldn't master it. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day. I just came down to the sewing room, and turned on some football to keep me company. Stay warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like fun! I've yet to master sewing on my old machine - which is a treadle - but looking forward to doing that one day! Trying not to stress about today's sewing - flower girl dresses!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks look great. I sewed today as well -- procrastinating about shoveling.
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of fun! I LOVE sewing on my Featherweight!
ReplyDeleteLove to see your Featherweight in good use!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun way to spend the day !
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a near perfect day to me.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love snow days when you don't have to go anywhere....it's the shovelling that I dislike!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your day! What a pretty machine! I can't wait to see what your improv blocks look like all together!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sounds nice doesn't it? That Featherweight sound. I own two of them myself. I don't use them very often though too busy with other things. Maybe soon I will sew on one of them too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFeatherweights are neat vintage sewing machines. Your improv blocks look like fun. I love the freedom of improv piecing :-)
ReplyDeletethat sounds like a good way to spend a day!
ReplyDeleteI have a featherweight too, but haven't really spent time with it. One of these days.
ReplyDeleteI have featherweight envy...
