A finish, 2 wins and a gift

A finish, 2 wins and a gift!  All in one week!

The finish------My 2016 BOM ----- a quilt along from Sew Mama Sew

Measures 48" x 60"

Here's a few nice close up shots taken by my friend, Karen.  She has a fancy-dancy camera!

I quilted this in free motion on my Pfaff PowerQuilter 16.0 using Aurifil 50# thread on the cone in colour #2600 a light grey.  I have found I have better success using a large thread cone instead of a regular spool.
The PowerQuilter sit-down machine uses a size 100/16 needle.  Ordinarly, on my domestic I would use an 80/12 topstitch needle with 50# thread, but because of the high speed of this machine a larger eyed needle is required.

The First Win --  I spent the Spoonflower gift certificate that I won at my lovely little guild's last meeting.  I was lucky to find and buy a fabric that I have been looking for since over a year ago.  They carry such unique fabrics.  It's the place to go if you are looking for something different.  I will be using this to make a totebag for my Knitty Sister for Christmas.

BTW..Knitty Sister made this for her grandson.  Isn't it the cutest! She is so talented.

The second win - a fat quarter bundle that I won in a giveaway on Jennifer's blog, A Quarter Inch from the Edge.  The prize was sponsored by Zoey and Bean online fabric shop.  It is called "Snofall" and it is designed by Rae Ritchie for Dear Stella Designs.  I love it!  Thanks to Jenn and Kristi for the awesome giveaway.

The Gift - I have mentioned to you before about my Facebook page called, The Fabric Pig.  I created this page to share my fabric obsession with others afflicted with the same thing.  My friends/guildmates and followers seem to enjoy my just-for-fun adventure. My wonderful friend, Karen of KaHolly, visited with me for the weekend and presented me with this awesome banner that she made.  Isn't it just the best!!  I was so tickled to receive it.  Thank you so much, Karen.  "The Sty" misses you!

Hope you had time to get some sewing done over this long weekend.

  7. Such a fun and happy post! Just like our weekend together! I'm so glad you love your banner. You were so cute unrolling it, inch by inch. I couldn't wait to get in the door to give it to you! Your pictures are great, but I'm here to tell everyone that in person the quilt is even greater! And those fabrics, luscious! Knotty sister is way too clever! I can knit scarves. Plain scarves. That's about it! XO

  10. So many fun things in this post! Your BOM quilt turned out so fabulous. I don't love every modern quilt I see, but this one is a total winner. And I loved seeing Karen's "Sty" mini over on her blog and then again here on yours. It takes a VERY good friend to call your studio a sty and get away with it :)
