The nerve of those trees to cast off their leaves on RetiredHub's new wall! |
Also, last evening I was very proud to spend time with the
Mariners Quilt Guild in Dartmouth, NS, as I presented my trunk show. What a lovely group of quilters. I was made to feel very welcome and I enjoyed showing off all my quilts. I took 30 quilts to show! I only had an hour to present them and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to show them all in that time but it worked out perfectly. My friend and guildmate, Susan B. was kind enough to come along to help me with the lugging and the holding up and the packing up. Thanks so much, Susan! And thanks to the Mariners Guild for the invitation. Here's a few shots of me from last night.
Talking about guilds, my lovely little guild,
Maritime Modern Quilt Guild, has a paint chip challenge happening right now. Each participant blindly chose three paint chips (a light, medium and dark colour) from a bag and then set to work using the three chosen colours along with the option of adding black and/or white to make a quilt with the minimum size requirement of 12 inches square. Here's the quiltlet that I made. I chose a block from the BOM quilt that I just completed and my awesome quilty friend,
Karen of KaHolly, re-sized it from 12" to 18" for me. I tried to make it appear that the weaved strips were on top while the quilting was underneath.I freemotion quilted a feather and lots of pebbles. I matched my chosen paint chips to Kona colours, Emerald Green, Candy Green and Light Parfait. The challenge for me in using these colours is that the Light Parfait is my least favourite colours so I did not enjoy that and also I decided to piece a matching binding and that took me longer to make than the rest of the entire quiltlet! It was fun though! I was excited to see what the rest of my guildmates had created and I was not disappointed. Click HERE to go to the post where you can vote for your favourite. Voting is open until Sept. 24. Check out the awesome prizes that Aurifil Threads sent us for the top three winners! BTW- My entry is lucky number 13!
Hope you had time today to get some quilting done!
