What's Happening?

Here we are...one more week left in January.  It has been pretty good, weather-wise.  In my sewing room, my machines have been busy and my fabric cutting has been brisk.  I saw a great idea online and I can't remember where I saw it, but the idea was to collect a piece of each fabric that you cut into during the whole year and then at the end of the year you would have some fabrics to make something that would represent your entire year of fabric.  I chose to cut a 2 1/2" square from each of the fabrics that I cut into.  I am not waiting til the end of the year to decide what to make with my collection.  I have already decided that I want to make 16 patch squares. (wink wink)  Here is what I have cut into and sewn together so far this year.  I may have missed a few.  I am really excited to see what I end up with at the end of the year.  A great way to show your taste in fabrics and how they may change over time.

Here is a quilt top that I just finished sewing up yesterday.  It is for my daughter.  She picked out the fabrics and sorted out the layout to her preference.  All her  Cotton+Steel favourites. I love how it looks.   I am working on making the backing today. It will be a throw measuring 52" x 60"

Also, I wanted to show you my latest favourite thing...my Quilter's Planner!  With all the things I have going on in my quilty life, I figured it was time to get organized.  Many thanks go out to my quilty friend and guildmate, Anja @ Anja Quilts for making it possible for me to own this wonderful planner. Check out her blog and you will see lots of quilty inspiration.
check out Late Night Quilter's website for more info

the front -  The main fabric is a linen/cotton combo from Roison Textile Goods.  and the rest is Cotton and Steel

the back

the inside.  two pockets, elastic strap and a bookmark
This was a free pattern when you buy the planner.

Hope you got time to do something quilty today!

  3. What a great idea to make the 16-patch. I made my planner cover, but it's a bit loose. Need to take part of it apart and try to fix it.

  7. When I first moved up to the island, I made a scrappy quilt as you describe. It is the only quilt I've kept for myself. It's so much fun to look at it and reflect on the projects I was working on! It encompasses a couple of years worth, however! I hope your new planner helps you out! The trick is to use it {grin}! Love the cover you have made for it. XO

  8. Your daughter has lovely taste in fabric! And your fabric planner is splendid. Part of me regrets not getting a planner, but there simply isn't enough fun money to go around these days. I had to make my own little planner with an old notebook! Lol.
