Nummer 1, 2 and 3 - Complete!

One more project out of my head and onto fabric. My Quilty Sister, who lives in Qatar, has been keeping my supplied with Ikea's "Britten Nummers" fabric for a while now.  It is no longer available in Canada or the US so, everytime she comes home to NS to visit, she brings me a few metres.  I still have a good supply on hand but I wanted to make something to commemorate the end of an amazing run.  So, from the scraps from the quilt below, "I Love Chai", that I made using a fat quarter bundle of Alison Glass "Handcrafted" and "Nummers" as the backing......

.....I made this.....A triptych called

                     "Nummers One, Two and Three" 

 I plan on hanging all three in a group on my living room wall.                   

"Nummer One" measures 32" x 41"   Quilted in freemotion .in the border areas used Aurifil #50 in white 2024 on my Pfaff GrandQuilter 16.0 which uses a Topstitch size 100 titanium needle and in the pieced centre area Wonderfil Konfetti 50# dark gold KT401

"Nummer Two" measures 26" x 28"  spiral quilted using walking foot. Quilted on my Pfaff QE 4.0 using Aurifil 50# in white 2024 top and bottom and a Superior Titanium Topstitch needle size 80/12

"Nummer Three" measures 18" x 26"   freemotioned quilted.  Had to add the selvedge! Quilted on my Pfaff GrandQuilter 16.0 using Aurifil #50wt in white 2024 

On "Nummer Three", I tried my hand at using an acrylic quilting ruler.  I used "Fine Line" Quilter's Ruler made by Accents in Design, Inc.  I like having the ruler to guide my stitching and it works well once you get the feel for it.  I found that going right to left is better for me.  You will notice in the photo below that the left hand side of the arcs are quite wobbly. I find it a lot easier and smoother if I stitch right to left. Lots of practice required.  

Backing fabric on all three is another Ikea fabric.  

For the binding, the same on all three...My favourite from "Handcrafted" by Alison Glass  A lovely dark teal.  I bound #One and #Two completely by machine but on #Three, I handstitched it to the back.  

I love fabric so much, but it's the scraps, the leftovers,  that really inspire me and spur me on just to see if  I can make my mind come to life!
