I will have to spend some time sorting and pressing, but that is something I love to do. Plus, I forgot about another huge bin of solids that I have from many years ago if I need more. I also found a Kona jelly roll that will come in handy. I may have to cut into some of my yardage but that is OK. Here's a look at what I have done so far.
Talking about Kona solids....Have you heard about the quilt that my quilty buddy Valerie @ Purple Boots and Pigtails is making? She has asked those who are interested, to make a word block from their favourite Kona colour using that Kona colour for the word. Also the background must be Kona. Her plan is to have this Kona word quilt ready for our guild quilt show in October. It will be fabulous! Click on the link above to check out the details. Here are two blocks that I made to help her out in her quest.
I am linking up with the Needle and Thread Network. Stop by and check out all the wonderful Canadian projects going on. Such talent! Hope everyone had a wonderful Canada Day!
Wow! Your blocks are coming along great! Love your word blocks too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've got your work cut out for you with that quilt. It will look gorgeous when you're finished. I hope your Canada Day was an enjoyable one. We had a relaxing one after watching the parade this morning.
ReplyDeleteYou came across a tub of scraps??? Do you have fabric hiding in the walls?? LOL Love your word blocks. I need to start working on mine.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why you had made a block with the word 'coal', now I see why with Kona Colour names. The blocks above look interesting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Linda. Who has a Rubbermaid tote of that many solid scraps... and forgets about it? I can't believe how many of those blocks you've gotten finished already. They're looking great... another tempting project for me!
ReplyDeleteFabulous blocks. Love the colour combinations you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I may have to hunt in the basement to see if I have a tube of fabric lurking ;). I love your project and the Kona project sounds great. I have been collecting Konas and this sounds enticing!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking blocks. Going to be a awesome quilt when finished. Love the Kona blocks you made for Valerie.
ReplyDeleteYour solid scrap busting quilt is coming along beautifully! Looks like a great design!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my quest for Kona word blocks! Yours are awesome!!!
What a lovely scrap box! So full. I love your scrappy blocks - so vibrant. And your Kona word blocks will be a great addition for Valerie. xx
ReplyDeleteYour new quilt is coming along very nicely, Linda. The colours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting to TN&TN.
Linda, I think I want to go clean up your house... perhaps I will come across more bins 'o fabric you forgot! Nice blocks for Val. Can't wait to see the result of your other project.
ReplyDeleteOH! MY! WORD! This "Aerial" quilt is going to be fantabulous! YUMMY! I hope you will show photos of the Kona word quilt when it is finished as well!
ReplyDeleteWow! It is really coming along. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteLooks great so far.
ReplyDeleteWow Wow Wow! Aerial is going to be a real winner Linda! Your son has totally excellent tastes!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have bins that you forget about :) I love sorting, ironing scraps. While I busted my scraps drawer for the yard sale I have not touched my solids bin, and it needs ironing! Yay! we are kind sick, but feisty!
ReplyDeleteHow in heck did I miss THIS POST? I know I haven't been sleeping since July first. Your quilt is coming together just beautifully, Linda, and those letters/words! I can't wait until I finish up what I'm working in so I can try my hand at some improv letters. Yours are so perfect, they don't look wonky like improv letters seem to. Oh how I wish we lived a little closer together. XO
