I bought the pattern @ Patch, then had the paper piecing patterns photocopied, then I did this..
I pinned all the PP patterns on my design wall as they fit in the quilt, because I figured it is the only way I would be able to keep things straight and plan my colour combos. Once each block is finished I will pin it back on the wall and when they are all finished I can easily sew them into a top without getting mixed up.
Then I sorted through some of my Kona scraps. My plan is to not buy any new fabric for this quilt.
Then I sewed up one block on my beautiful little Featherweight. This will be fun!
Nathaniel will be home for a little visit on July 9 but I don't think I will have it finished by then!
For the first time in ages, I am linking up with The Needle and Thread Network. Why don't you link up too? Love to see what you are working on.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get time to do some quilting today.
What a fabulous quilt to make for your son! I love the fact that you are making a modern quilt using a vintage sewing machine. Have fun!

ReplyDeleteI am officially inspired to get going on my next project which is also a CF paper pieced quilt - Tangelo. AND I'm going to piece it with my Featherweight so I can work on quilting my t-shirt quilt on my Bernina in parallel.
ReplyDeleteIs that a flannel sheet you're using for your design wall? I love your first block!
Gorgeous! It looks so large on the wall!!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be beautiful. I like your technique of pinning the papers to the design wall.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project that will be!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it. Love the idea of posting the pattern on the design wall. I'm hoping to get a better design wall over the summer.
ReplyDeleteLookIng marvelous Linda!
ReplyDeleteYou always start (and finish!) the most interesting projects. I am certainly looking forward to watching this beauty grow...and grow...and grow! XO
ReplyDeleteWow! Very neat project! I cannot wait to see this one finished up. I am catching up on blogs tonight and all the planning, sewing and quilting I am seeing is very inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be fabulous! I love that you've pretty much wallpapered your studio with it! I look forward to seeing it come together. I'm wondering if you'll really be able to make the whole thing with just your Kona scraps. Maybe I should get some Kona scrap packs together for the MMQG yard sale?
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous Linda, well done, quite the planning process!
