It's time for Throwback Thursday Vol#9 with Jennifer @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge. After seeing Jennifer's awesome post yesterday (make sure to check it out) about her log cabin and all the wonderful photos, I remembered that I made a log cabin several years ago. I started blogging in Feb. 2008 and I made this quilt before that. I didn't keep any notes about it (sounds like me) so I am not sure of the date. But I remember that I made it for my Aunt Louise, my Mum's sister, who unfortunately now resides in a nursing home. I believe her granddaughter has the quilt now. I used lots of turquoise, purple and teal fabrics which would have been my favourite at the time, I am sure. The lighter side of the block is made from beige and white tone-on-tones with yellow for the centres. I hand quilted it and I am sure there is probably muslin on the back. Not the best picture but the only one I have.
After I gave it away to my Aunt, I knew I would miss it, so I set to work making another log cabin quilt top. It remains unfinished but it is getting closer to the top of the pile!
I am linking up with Jenn. Stop by and check out all the awesome quilts from days gone by.
Hope you had time today to do something quilty!
Wow! Two awesome quilts! Hope you can find time to get back to your sewing room and finish that second one. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteI loved the teals and purples of the late 1990s and early 2000s. They make a gorgeous log cabin quilt -- yours are gorgeous. Sally
ReplyDeleteLove the rich palette of your log cabin. Isn't it funny how little info we have on our early quilts? Thanks for linking up with Throwback Thursday @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge!
ReplyDeleteYour log cabin is gorgeous, love those colours ! I don't vendors have photos of my early quilts 😯
ReplyDeleteAh, there is just something about Log Cabins. Your aunt's quilt is lovely. I hope you get to finish the other one soon! Will you hand quilt or machine?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I absolutely love the baby picture that pops up when I come to your blog!!
ReplyDeleteBoth log cabins are great. Guess I need to get on board and make one. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteEither your awfully tiny or that's one gigantic quilt top! Lol, I know the answer to that! They are both lovely, Linda, just like their maker. Have a great weekend. XO
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the colours!
ReplyDeleteI love the teal and purple! Part of me keeps telling myself to dive in and make a log cabin quilt, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. I just have to find the right one! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI have one...or two of those piles...lol. I love the look of a log cabin quilt and certainly appreciate the work in these two beauties.
