This will be the second time making this quilt. I made it several years ago for my son, Alexander. He loved it to death and to pieces so he requested a new quilt. It had to be just like the first one. I don't really enjoy making a quilt that I have made before, but he begged me. Of course, I didnt cut up any flowery fabrics, it will be a solid mottled black quilters flannel plus the contrasting gold flannel for the trellis.
The second quilt that I cut out today is one that I have on my list of projects for The Library Project. (click on link to see my other picks) It is called "Basic Puzzle" from the book "Modern Basics" by Amy Ellis
One hour of cutting produced this |
which then produced this |
Last Sunday, I had a little workshop in my basement sewing room. My Knitty Sister and My Knitty Cousin really wanted to try their hand at making a stuffed tea cozy like I made a while back. They finally found time and we had a wonderful day. Knitty Sister designed her cozy to match the backsplash in her condo. Not bad for her first time working with fabrics instead of yarn.
Here's how it looks in her kitchen
Knitty Cuz had a great time deciding on fabrics and ended up with a colourful diagonal design.
Hope you had some sewing time today.
I am linking up with The Needle and Thread Network. It has been a while since I linked up. Time flies by so fast.
Looks like a fun flannel quilt and the other is quite modern , should be fun to make . Your sister and cousin did very well in your little workshop . Enjoy the snow:-)
ReplyDeleteLove the brights you have chosen for the puzzle quilt. Your sister and cousin did an amazing job:)
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun to sew with others. Their projects turned out very well. I love the design you are working on for the solids - wonderful.
ReplyDelete2 quilts cut already!!! I started one of the quilts from my Library list too-going to try and sneak back to the sewing room and piece some more blocks! You'll have your list done by March.
ReplyDeleteI made that trellis quilt and I still really like it! The solids are very cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the tea cozies and your modern basics quilt is going looking great. We keep wishing for snow as our ski runs are rather bare, sounds like you have got our share!
ReplyDeleteYou brave woman, making the same quilt twice... Glad you were able to spread the quilting love today!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad for her Dominique. She said she was going to repair the original then i find out she gave it to a dog to use as a bed. Turns out she wanted to make something new so I got this high quality lifeless grey thing to sleep under.
ReplyDeleteWe had a deal lady. Glad to see you're finally living up to your end!!
(I love you mum, and thanks for the free quilts :) )
You have been busy. I really must do something with solids ... Good to see your son reads your blog :-)
ReplyDeleteYou surely know how to have fun when the weather is bad .....
ReplyDeleteGreat tea cozies especially the one that matches the back splash - wow!
You have such great projects ready to make! What fun you must have had with the gals making the cozies!
ReplyDeleteYour son will be pleased with your efforts. He's a hoot! Love your new projects. You've been so very productive! It puts me to shame. The tea cozies came out great. What do they want to make next? You're a great teacher!
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to see "Trellis" in two colours: I've used raspberry red and green on a white ground, it is waiting (and waiting) to be quilted.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lovely bunch of work you're into today.
