Here's a cushion I made today. The embroidered block in the centre is my daughter's first attempt at stitchery. I love that she tried her hand at it but she didn't fall in love. At almost 35 years old, she has her own passion and I guess there is no room for another right now I decided to finish it up by free motion quilting it and making it into a cushion for her. I still have to sew the opening closed. Even though she doesn't share my passion, she is still my fabric shopping buddy and she is wonderful with colour choices. Someday......someday....
I have three daughters and even though the two older ones know how to sew, none of them have taken much of an interest. Oh well, perhaps we may both have granddaughters one day who may want to learn. I think making that block into a cushion was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet pillow. Consider yourself lucky to have your daughter as a fabric shopping buddy, and hopefully, she finds her way to quilting or stitching at some point.
ReplyDeleteThe cushion looks great.
ReplyDeleteBe patient as it took my youngest DD till she was about 36 to get hooked on quilting...
She did a great job and you never know, maybe she just needs to find the right avenue that suits her.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly does enable you! your husband, too!! I'm loving being with my daughter and getting her input. It's like shopping and sewing with 'new eyes'! Mine doesn't share my passion, either, but like yours, she supports and encourages me every step of the way. Not to mention, she likes everything I make for her. This cushion is adorable and will be a real treasure!
ReplyDeleteVery cute:) I wish I had a daughter. I'm surrounded by guys. I do have a DIL but she doesn't sew at all.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter did a great job of the stitchery and give her time and she just may love it ;-) sweet pillow !
