What's Happening - Work in Progress

My plan to make September a machine quilting month is underway.  OK, I didn't get started until the middle of the month, but better late than never!  Although the quilt that I am working on at the moment, "Huggable Me" was not the next in line, I just couldn't resist.

I still consider each new quilt that I FMQ, a practice piece.  My go-to design is swirls.  I can do other designs, but my brain tells my hands to swirl, swirl, swirl.  So the background on this quilt is swirled.  I tried something new to me in the squares. I got the idea from this video .  It is called wine-glass. It was tricky to keep consistent in size but I am OK with how it looks.
My first time.  I spray basted the layers and I am using Konfetti 50# by Wonderfil on the top and bottom.  My needle is a Superior Titanium 90/14.  The FMQ is going along without any troubles.  I am quilting on my Pfaff QE 4.0 and I am using my newest foot, the open-toed free-motion foot for use in the SensorMatic function.  Love it!  I am about half way to being finished so hopefully I will be done with this one soon.   My next one is my New York Beauty.  I need to find something wonderful to do in the wide black borders. Should I keep it simple or how about feathers?  Not swirls. Any suggestions welcome.

I am linking up with The Needle and Thread Network, so stop by and check out all the creativity this week.

  1. I love feathers! They're not too difficult once you've practiced and gotten the idea. They would look good.

  2. I haven't progressed to quilts yet, so I am very impressed with your ability!! Feathers would be darling. What a beautiful quilt! Can't wait to see it finished. I agree with you about swirls! I always end up swirling away when I'm working on my practice sandwiches!!

  6. Fantastic quilting, it gives a great texture to the background. Feathers would be very nice on the black borders to show off your precise piecing.
