Kate Spain "Horizon" layer cake and Kona White 72" square |
leftover 10" squares used on back. The white is an older double- wide tone-on-tone and the batting is Quilter's Dream in white. |
The quilting is done by me completely in free-motion on my new Pfaff GrandQuilter 16.0 |
Thread (upper and bobbin) - Aurifil 50# in white 2024 |
I also tried my hand at using an acrylic ruler (thanks to my quiltybuddy KarenR for the lend of her rulers)
I need to practice more and I plan on doing a post on my progress with the rulers, so stay tuned!
Hope you get the time to quilt something today! I am anxious to get started on my next project! Lots of UFOs.
Beautiful quilt and beautiful quilting! Congrats on the first finish ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt. Your quilting is wonderful! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteIt is so beachy and pretty and fresh and happy...I love it! And it looks like you're having a blast with your new Pfaff longarm!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is fantastic! Love the colours in the quilt - I like those. Me, I'm making more shimmers for the wholesale market here in March! I can't get my head around doing anything else at the moment. Happy Quilting.
ReplyDeleteLove that pattern (it's on my very long list) and the colours are beautiful! Quilting is lovely as usual. 😍
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilt...your quilting is exquisite too!!

ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful quilt!! Congratulations on your 1st finish of 2016!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great job you have done on the quilting
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Linda! It's a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteGood grief. That daughter of yours needs a good shake. How could one turn down this quilt? Even for C+S!!! The quilting is absolutely incredible. Just what my Toes in the Sand needs. But how will I ever manage to equal your skill? You amaze me. 4 days into the year and you've already got a finish. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, the quilting is absolutely breathtaking! I actually gasped a little when I looked through the closeup pictures. Such a beautiful quilt! I agree with Jenn, your daughter needs a good shake! I love C+S, but this quilt is too good to pass up! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Linda. Seems you're putting in a lot of time on your new machine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt! and gorgeous quilting. Enjoy your new machine.
ReplyDeleteOh Linda - that is one very beautiful quilt! I am flipping over the total gorgeousness of your free motion quilting! Moda Love made with Persimmon charm squares is on my 2016 to-do list.
ReplyDeleteOh, the quilting... Absolutely stunning. Sorry your daughter's tastes have changed, do you have another person in mind? Can't wait to see this beauty in person!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - love the colours! I finished one yesterday too - a nice start to the year.
ReplyDeleteWe all knew you would be rocking that new long arm!! I have a ruler foot and a couple of rulers too for my Bernina, but have been slow to do anything much with them. I like knowing that there is lots of grow room for me as a quilter; it just never gets old. Can't wait to see your ruler quilting!
Karen, you are so, so right!
DeleteIt's beautiful. Gorgeous colours and the quilting is just perfect
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, Linda, it's gorgeous! What 'stick-to-it-tiveness' you had to do all that quilting on such a big quilt! Your new machine is an awesome partner for you. Well done! Have fun practicing with the rulers! It DOES take a lot of practice, but I know you can do it! You'll get so good, you won't want to give them back! XO
