A Summer quilt

It happens every time I try to straighten up my sewing room.....I find something that was buried and I am instantly inspired to make something new.  I uncovered this bag of scraps from Suttles and Seawinds that I bought for $2.00 and decided I had to sort it out and then decided that since I need to make a lap quilt for someone special, and summer is almost here, these scraps would work perfectly.  Not sure what I will make yet,  but should be fun.  There are of ton of triangles already cut so they will figure in somewhere for sure. So needless to say, my sewing room cleaning has come to a halt!

  1. I try to give mine a little tidy before I sit down to work... even if it's for a couple minutes. I am a little scared of the number of WiPs that might be lurking in your studio! :)

  2. Love the colours in those "scraps" but the large print sail boats, would have been a struggle to cut into that fabric for me. Seems like it might be a trait for us quilters; I am preparing to move and each attempt at packing and tidying results in a "new discovery" and another idea is hatched.

  3. this is exactly what happens with me. I am learning to keep a box of large ziploc bags handy and I'll put all the bits in a bag with some written notes of what I intend to do and then I can continue with the cleaning. Now I have a huge stack of bags waiting...

  11. I love nautical fabrics, and have trouble getting past making a sailboat quilt when I see them. It's one of my favourite patterns and I've never seen one I didn't like. I expect you will do something more creative with yours - can't wait to see what that will be.

  12. Finding forgotten fabric in your stash is so much fun. It's like getting it for free.
