Being prepared!

I don't have any grandchildren (yet) but I am always looking to find the perfect juvenile quilt to make when the time comes. I have a folder with some favourites but now I am sure  I have found it!    It is called "The Quilt of Learning" and it is the new design by Nova Scotia quilt designer, Karen Neary of SewKarenly Created.    This quilt fits all the criteria I have for a child's quilt....colourful, educational, interactive and just fun to make. It has to be fun for me to make! I am thinking Kona solids....Oh my!  Check out the amazing free motion quilting that Karen does on this quilt. If you ever get the chance to take a freemotion quilting class with Karen...DO IT!   I could never recreate this skill level but could certainly give it my own spin.   I can just imagine a child being stimulated by this quilt.  Spelling, counting, colour names.(Should a child know their Kona colour names? hmmm)  And..bonus....make a stuffed block to play with.  It can be made bigger for a "big kid bed" with the addition of borders.

There is no rush for me to make this, but who knows what the future will bring.

  4. Thanks for your very nice words, Linda but you are being far too modest about your quilting. I've seen your work and it's beautiful. I wish grandchildren for both of us someday!

  6. Oh, Linda! You're too funny! Don't your children freak out if they read posts like this? I think you should start it ASAP. That way you'll have it done in a week or so! :)
