WIP Wednesday

I spent all my spare time handquilting the past week.  I finished quilting the blocks in my Fall Applique quilt and I am now out to the borders.  The end is in sight.

Hand-Pieced Scrappy Star Runner (click on the photo to enlarge and check out all the wonderful little scrappy diamonds)
I was also very lucky to win this awesome giveaway on Holly's blog .  A super- scrappy diamond star runner UFO that was just not going to be completed so she decided to let it go to a good home in the hopes of  becoming a finished project.   I spent some time yesterday working on the handpiecing.  I haven't handpieced for a while.  My stitching isnt as skillful as Holly's. Now I have to figure out how I will finish the edges.  This will look so nice on my kitchen table.  Holly also included a large pile of extra diamonds that I can use in another project.  I have something in mind.

Still waiting for my Pfaff to be returned from the shop.  I called about it today and hopefully I will have it back soon.  I need to get my sample done for the FreeMotion Challenge before the end of the month.

I am linking up with   The Needle and Thread Network.  Stop by and see what everyone is working on.

  5. Are your fingertips raw? I've been doing so much hand quilting lately, and have built up such callouses, I can't feel the needle! That was certainly a lucky win. I know how anxious you must be, waiting for your machine. My camera had to go back to the factory this past spring and I felt helpless without it.

  8. Part of my holiday prep is to take my machine into the shop. Even if I don't sew everyday, I like having the possibility. if the machine is in the shop then that limits my options.

  16. Good luck with the scraps. It's always nice to be able to see the end of hand quilting a big quilt.

  17. wonderful little table runner you are putting together! And your new banner is so enticing - I want to go for a ride with my pa, in the rowboat on the lake (has not been possible for many many years -- the lake is still there, but neither the rowboat or my dad exist anymore). As to doing without a sewing machine, or a camera for that matter, the cure is to have two!
