I need a few ideas!!
I am stumped as to how to finish off this quilt top. Does it need borders? If so, what? I cant seem to settle on anything I like. So, please, any ideas? I didnt start with much of a plan, I just sliced some leftover square- in- a -square blocks in four and inserted tiny strips. It was a ton of sewing and matching-up of seams and I love the effect overall but I am not sure how to make the most of the design from this point on.

To my eye, it's fine as is. Just bind it. You could audition some borders and sizes by laying it on the floor and folding fabrics to the approximate width. We (my little quilting group) do that when we are really unsure of colours and widths but then our whole idea is to make the quilt bigger (we donate the quilts to charities to raffle off and queen sizes are more useful.)
ReplyDeleteI think borders would detract from this one - you would be in a good historic tradition to just bind it and let it go at that - binding would have to be red - that will look really sharp!
ReplyDeleteLet's see it when it's finished, Linda - I think it will be lovely.
Unless less you have a large scale plaid in those colours, I would bind it now. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI would either bind it like it is, or do little squares in squares all the way around. if you need more clarification, email me and i will try to find a pic of what i am thinking.
