What's Happening!

I've been a bad blogger!  Yes, I have.  Six weeks have flown by since my last post and I am just now getting around to writing a new post.
I am working on two secret projects at the moment so I can't share yet but I will tell you that one is a medallion quilt round robin and the other is a new pattern I am designing for my local modern fabric shop.  Can't wait for the big reveals.
My first finish for 2017 is a wallhanging that I started last month and just got the binding on it a few days ago.
I sewed the selvedges onto 9 1/2" squares of FreeSpirit Manatee resulting in a half square triangle.  Then arranged them in a pleasing manner and quilted as desired.

I am happy with the way it turned out since I started with no plan...just a bag of  selvedges, some from my own fabrics and some from my lovely fabric friends who save them for me.  The backing is "Dapper" by Luke Haynes for Moda.

Quilted on Pfaff QE 4.0 in free motion using Aurifil 1158 and a Superior Topstitch needle size 80/12

"Dapper" by Luke

For the binding I used the Manatee and two different little bits of Cotton and Steel fabric to match up with where the selvedges met the edge. (you will notice in the first photo).

I also want to thank Patty Dudek at Elm Street Quilts for hosting her fabulous Bag It Event last year.  Also a big thank you to Aurifil threads for sponsoring this fun online event. I won one of the wonderful prizes!  A Katarina Roccella "Indelible" Aurifil thread collection.  12 spools of 40# thread in the most delicious colours.  Last year I bought a whole bolt of a print in this line of fabric and I have been collecting fabrics to make a quilt or two so I am super tickled to have the matching threads.

Hope you get time this weekend to work on your latest project.

  14. You're not at all a bad blogger! At times, one just needs to sew and not blog about it. I love, love, love that selvage quilt. But then again, you knew I would! The quilting in the negative space is fab!
