What's Happening!!

I have two finishes to show you.

First, I was commissioned by a loving husband to make a quilt for his wife for her birthday .  He requested a butterfly and yellow gerbera daisy theme because his wife loves both.   This is what I came up with, an original design by me.  I am not a huge lover of butterfly fabric and did not have any in my stash, but when I saw "Butterfly Box" from the Natural History line
by Lizzie House, I knew I could work with it. I took my inspiration from the butterfly fabric for the blues and the yellow from the daisy fabric that I used for the backing.  I made 12" wonky blocks from my Kona "scrash" and surrounded the butterfly yardage.  I just couldn't cut up the butterflies!  It measures approx. 60" x 72".  It is now in Ontario and being well loved (as is the loving husband I would think!)  This quilt is called "Butterflies for Nicola"

Quilted in freemotion with wavy lines using Aurifil #2024 50# white thread on my Pfaff PowerQuilter 16.0

Secondly, I finished up my version of "Urban Candy" a design by Jenny Pedigo of Sew Kind of Wonderful.  The prints that I used are ones that I purchased in 2012 when Quilt Canada visited my city.   from fabric designer, Patty Young from her Andalucia and Lush lines and the background is solid white from FreeSpirit. Quilted in freemotion with a loop-de-loop design with a wrapped candy design thrown in here and there for fun. Using my Pfaff PowerQuilter 16.0 sitdown machine with Aurifil 50# Colour #2024 white thread.

Can you see the wrapped candies that I quilted in to the design?

Hope you got the chance to do something quilty today!
