Happy First Anniversary, TT!

Happy First Anniversary Throwback Thursday @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge!  Thanks to Jennifer for starting up this great linky so that we get a chance to bring out the golden oldies of our quilting adventures.  This month's link up is sporting some very nice prizes!

I only have one photo of this quilt that I made probably 10 years ago. I went back through my blog, all 8 years of it, to see if I had posted about this quilt. Nope. So I am just going by memory.

I made it for my Aunt/Godmother.  It lives with her in Prospect and is used on her bed.  That makes me happy.  At the time her favourite colours were burgundy and navy.
My inspiration was a large floral print with a navy background.  I made ohio star blocks using the large floral print as the star points and centres  and mixed up the fabrics surrounding the centres with different blues and burgundy fabrics.  I do remember that the small cornerstones were left over units from the Storm at Sea portion of the quilt I made for RetiredHub.  I am sure there is muslin on the back.  It is handquilted by Me.

Stop by Jennifer's blog and check out all the other throwbacks.  Better yet, write up a post and link up...the prizes are pretty sweet!

Hope you had time to do something quilty today!

  1. Well if you're going to have only one photo, this is the one to have. It's so vibrant! I really like how you used the floral for the sashings and how it carries through to the binding, too. I bet it's still a treasure to your aunt!

  6. Even though I don't seem to find the time to do it myself, I love hand quilting. I'm always really exited when I see it. This is a lovely quilt. You put a lot of work into that outer border.
