It's been very quilty-intense for me lately. My lovely little guild, the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild, hosted its very first Retreat. I enjoyed an action-packed weekend with 25 of my awesome guildmates at the Holiday Inn in Truro, NS. Click on the link above to read all about it and see lots of pictures. I took three projects to work on. The first one is called "Urban Candy" by
Sew Kind of Wonderful. I got about half of the blocks made.
These are the fabrics I am using to make "Urban Candy" with a solid white for background. I purchased these fabrics in 2012 and figured it was time to get them cut up |
For the second project I sewed together 48 square-in-a-square blocks into a quilt top for a charity quilt for the IWK hospital, a project sponsored by my guild.
I didn't do any work on the third project that I brought with me. I was hoping to get some work done on completing the cover for my round tuffet but that will have to wait.
There were three retreat mysteries to partake in during the weekend. Here I am working on the first mystery. A paper-pieced pattern of the sailboat from our guild logo.
The second mystery project was a cute little pincushion to attach to your sewing machine and I saved the third mystery project, a lovely binding kit, to sew at home.
A highlight of my weekend at retreat was spending time with my sweet friend and guildmate, Lesley, who blogs @The Cuddle Quilter. Because she lives a few hours away we don't get to see each other very often so this was a real treat.
Another fun thing was Swag Bags! 19 members participated by providing a gift for each other. It was like Christmas when we opened our swag bags. Everyone was so generous.
I made these little snap pouches for everyone.
Today I am rested up and enjoying some improv curve sewing.
Hope you have time today to spend on a project.
So glad the retreat was such a success! I can't wait to see your Urban Candy quilt top. You're making a tuffet? You go, girl!
