And also, thanks to
Jenn at A Quarter Inch from the Edge, for the inspiration and for the encouragement (even if she doesn't know she is doing it).
So here is what I have sewn up so far in my quest to lighten my selvedge load. I took my favourites and made a 14" square of fabric. I could make a cushion, but I don't need any more cushions! I could make a wallhanging for my sewing room, or I could slice it up and create something very improvisational. I already have lots of pouches. Maybe a sewing machine cover, not sure yet.
So, this
Became this
It's not entirely Cotton and Steel selvedges, but mostly. I love how it matches the C&S floral print that you see behind. That will factor in my project somehow.
I am linking up with Quilty Habit for the Mid-Way Check in Linky
Stop by and check out what others are doing with their selvedges
You've certainly made an interestin length of 'fabric' with your selvedges. A sewing machine cover would be a lovely addition to your sewing nook. I can't believe you haven't made one, yet. (Me neither, but have made a pocketed pad to sit my machine upon.). Whatever you decide to do will be the perfect thing, I've no doubt!
ReplyDeleteI love these new fabrics we're making. A sewing machine cover sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteOooh... C & S have the loveliest of selvages. I haven't made anything yet with the ones I'm hoarding. I look forward to seeing what this turns into... no doubt it will be amazing!
ReplyDeleteP.S. And you're right. I had no idea I was egging you on! But I'm glad I did!
Oooooh, can't wait to see what wonderful creation you turn this into!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Hopefully inspiration will hit, and you'll know just what to make.
ReplyDeleteThe C and S selvages are the best, right? This is lovely! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteOoh looks great so far! Love the idea for a sewing machine cover! Thanks for linking up with the Selvage Along!
