Featherweight Fun, Fun, Fun!

It's a snow-day, a stay inside day, so of course, I am in the basement sewing up a storm. lol
I am playing with scraps and Featherweights.
I have three Singer Featherweight sewing machines....one from 1948, one from 1950 and one from the year of my birth, 1952.  Only the 1952 is not working at the moment.  It needs a new bobbin holder.  I am sewing today with the 1950.
I oiled her and put a new needle in and she is purring away and making the most perfect stitch.

I am sewing up improv 12 1/2" square blocks just for fun. No plan in mind.  Just some stressfree sewing.

Hope you are enjoying some stress-free sewing today too!

  1. Sounds wonderful, Linda! Good on you for using the 'vintage' machine - is it treadle? My mom used a treadle when I was quite young but I couldn't master it. :)

  2. Sounds like a perfect day. I just came down to the sewing room, and turned on some football to keep me company. Stay warm and cozy!

  3. It does sound like fun! I've yet to master sewing on my old machine - which is a treadle - but looking forward to doing that one day! Trying not to stress about today's sewing - flower girl dresses!

  4. The blocks look great. I sewed today as well -- procrastinating about shoveling.

  9. I love snow days when you don't have to go anywhere....it's the shovelling that I dislike!

  11. Hi, Sounds nice doesn't it? That Featherweight sound. I own two of them myself. I don't use them very often though too busy with other things. Maybe soon I will sew on one of them too. Thanks for sharing.
