It is time for me to give crazy-quilting a try, so I joined in with Carli at Good Earth Quilting and will be making a crazy-quilted wallhanging along with several others. The theme of the wallhanging is the four seasons. I started with winter.
I have my first block sewn up and ready for stitchery and embellishment. For the
centre, I used a little piece of a favourite snowflake fabric cut in a
hexagon shape. I wish now that I would have used a larger shape as the
snowflake doesnt show so well. I surrounded that hexagon with quilting
cottons, a batik and a solid all in my favourite colour, turquoise.
That colour reminds me of all the ice we had so far this winter. Then I
used some special fabrics from other projects. A polyester blouse, a
piece of bridal satin, some cotton lace edging and a gold painted sheer
fabric. From there, more cotton scraps and a beautiful turquoise satin
from a scrap bag from a friend. Everything in my block is a leftover
from another project. Such fun to make. Now to get to the hand stitching.
Hope you are having a quilty day.
